New Indian Currency Notes: How New Currency Notes Looks like
After demonetization of high valued notes of ₹500 and ₹1,000 and releasing new ones in November 2016, The Reserve Bank of India has now issued New Indian currency notes of ₹10, ₹50, ₹100, ₹200, ₹500 and ₹2,000 in last 2 years. Earlier in November 2016, The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) introduced new ₹500 and ₹2,000 notes post the demonetization drive by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government when ₹500 and ₹1,000 notes were banned in a bid to curb black money. The RBI issued the notice to introduce of new ₹50 and ₹200 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series on August 2017. After releasing of new ₹50 and ₹200 denomination banknotes, the announcement of the issue of the new ₹10 notes comes in January 2018. All the new notes have distinct designs from the previous Mahatma Gandhi Series of bank notes in terms of colour, size and theme.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has introduced ₹ 2000 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series, bearing the signature of Dr. Urjit R. Patel, Governor, Reserve Bank of India on November 2016 immediately after demonetization.
The image and security features of ₹ 2000 banknote are as under:
- See through Denominational numeral 2000
- The new currency has denominational numeral २००० in Devnagari script.
- Image of Mahatma Gandhi moved to the centre from the left.
- Micro letters RBI and 2000 on the left side of the New note
- On the Colour Changing Security thread भारत, RBI and 2000 are written on banknotes with the colour change from green to blue when the note is tilted.
- RBI Governor’s signature with Promise Clause and RBI emblem towards the right side of the new note.
- The new note has denominational numeral with Rupee sign ₹ 2000 in colour changing (green to blue) on the bottom right of the banknote.
- Ashoka Pillar emblem towards the right side of the banknote.
- The watermark of Mahatma Gandhi portrait and electrotype (2000) watermarks
- The Number panel with numerals growing from small to big is placed on the top left side and bottom right side of the new note.
