Change In CBSE Exams Pattern Of Class 10 & 12 From 2019-20
CBSE is planning to make a major reshuffle in the examination pattern of 10th and 12th class from 2019-20. In this regard, CBSE has handed over the new guidelines to the Ministry of Education. Although this proposal will take 3-4 months more time now, although the board has started the process of making changes in question paper pattern.
For What Reason Is CBSE Introducing These Changes For Class 10 & Class 12?
As per the information available, the changes in CBSE Exam pattern (CBSE paper pattern) would be implemented from the next academic year 2019-20, agencies reported that the initiative of this pattern change is being taken to discourage students from rote learning. The board is expected to move the focus of Exam pattern from rote learning to conceptual understanding.
- The new pattern of examination would test pupils on their analytical skills and reasoning abilities instead of blind copy-pasting of textbook text.
- The board also claimed that this step will give a better result and the academic quality of the institutions will be renewed on the basis of the academic quality of the institutions. According to the New Guidelines, the focus will be on the academic quality of the institutions.
The New Makeover Plan
Some major changes expected that would be presented in the new CBSE Exam pattern 2019-20 are:
- Question papers to be planned to check the problem-solving and analytical thinking of students.
- Paper pattern to be revamped to include more short answer-type questions (between 1 to 5 marks)
- CBSE has planned to conduct the board exams in two parts – Vocational and Non-Vocational. The Exams for Vocational subjects to be held in February whereas the final board exams to finish up by March “in around 15 days,” according to the reports by HRD Ministry.
- This plan will give evaluators more time to evaluate papers and the results will probably be declared before time.
The CBSE board is also considering to introduce new bylaws to simplify and shorten the rules of affiliation process and renewal for schools. Under the new plan, there is a vision for putting more emphasis on better-quality of school’s academic– such as teachers, learning outcomes, and instructional method. Also, the state’s directorates of education/school education departments will be responsible for evaluating their schools’ facilities, infrastructure, working criteria, and the CBSE will depend on their reports while arriving at a decision.
HAS THE PLAN BEEN APPROVED?
- CBSE has presented this proposal to the ministry of Education for Approval.
- The proposals about the new examination pattern are “still under discussion stage,” while the board is already working toward implementing the changes in question paper pattern which will be applicable from 2020 session.
