Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born on December 25, 1924, in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh
His father’s name was Shri. Krishna Bihari Vajpayee and mother’s name was Krishna Devi.
His father was a poet and school teacher by profession.
He completed his early education from Swarajya School and completed graduation from Laxmibai College.
He got his MA in Political Science from DAV College of Kanpur.
Vajpayee did not marry.
Vajpayee first participated in the Quit India Movement in 1942 and he had to go to jail for 23 days.
He contested for the first time in 1955 but lost it.
After this, he won the first Lok Sabha election in 1957 from Balrampur.
Vajpayee was a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha for 10 times in the year 1957 till 2009.
He became the Prime Minister of India thrice.
He took oath as the 10th Prime Minister of the country on May 6, 1996, but could remain the Prime Minister for only 13 days.
After this, on 19th March 1998, he was sworn in as the Prime Minister of the country, but this government could remain only for 13 months.
After this, on October 13, 1999, Vajpayee took oath as the Prime Minister for the third time and remained Prime Minister of the country for a full five year
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the first Non-Indian Congress Prime Minister to serve a full five years term.
Vajpayee is the only MP who has become MP from four different states of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the first Foreign Minister and Prime Minister of India who gave a speech in Hindi at the United Nations Conference
Vajpayee took retirement from politics in the year 2005.
Vajpayee started the bus service from Delhi to Lahore on 19th February 1999 on the name of Sadah-e-Surhad and inaugurated as the first passenger while inaugurating
