Establishment of WHO
- World health organisation was established on 7th April, 1948 was specialised agency under his parent organization United Nations Economic and Social Council.
- It was established for the purpose of Human Health in order to eradicate the communicable diseases.
- Headquarter is located at Geneva, Switzerland.
- Recently, the Director-General of WHO is Margaret Chan. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was elected by the World Health Assembly on 23 May 2017 and will begin his five-year term on 1 July 2017.
Focus and Objectives of World Health Organization:
- It was established to keep focus that all the people would have attained their health at higher level of their capacities.
- It would have published a report in 1980 which was claiming of eradicating Smallpox all over the world.
- Their focus is then the eradication of communicable diseases like HIV/AIDs, tuberculosis and various issues of health related to reproduction and sex.
- It has also works on eradicating polio worldwide with co-operation of many health organisation worldwide like Rotary International, the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
- It also published a report in 1988 claiming 99% eradication of polio worldwide.
- From 1990 to 2005, it would able to reduce the cases of tuberculosis by 40 % which was mark as one of the major achievement of World Health organization.
Other Important steps by WHO for public care:
Non-Communicable diseases:
- Not only communicable but WHO also concern with our common injuries and illness, predicts, analyse and aware the people by many awareness programs to take care of them and proper precautions to prevent from them.
Environmental Problems:
- WHO introduce many program to aware from Environmental factors and their major impacts from water, soil, air when they all are polluted by various chemical exposers which intoxicate them.
- The People are aware about using purified water for drinking and also take part in reducing the pollution by less exposure into the natural resources.
Awareness from natural hazards and their preparations:
- World Health Organisation majorly concern for human resource and their existence and highly aware for the natural hazards.
- They deploy many information giving tactics and news for upcoming hazard for long before they come.
- They create awareness and training program to keep alert during hazards and learn how to make us safe and protected from them.
Health policy and Government support:
- As WHO very much prepared for r us, and regularly created many projects and policy in collaboration with government of all other countries who continuously support them.
- They were concern with public health and hence we also know that in many countries , the development measures in term of HRD (Human resource development), who recently publish a report of happiness index in which INDIA comes On 128th position globally.
